Plainfield nonprofit in desperate need of temporary Saturday classroom space

Things have been hard for Plainfield nonprofit Angels for Action recently, ever since a busted pipe ruined their West Second street location during a cold spell in the winter of 2022.

The organization’s work continues without a space, but things have been much more tenuous – especially for their free English speaking classes, which have always been a central part of the services they provide. The Plainfield Public Library caps the duration organizations can use their spaces, and they informed Angels for Action that they have no more time. For the latest Saturday English class, the teacher and the ten students met on the porch of a local home.

There are four Saturdays left before the English classes end for summer break, and Angels for Action is in desperate need of a space to accommodate around ten students and a teacher. Classes take place at 10:30am. Anyone interested in providing a space should call Angels for Action president Carmen Salavarrieta at (732)485-8621 or email angelsaction@gmail.com.
