In response to the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis Police – and police violence in general – the Plainfield Anti-Violence Coalition will be leading a march and rally in Plainfield on Saturday June 6, as announced on Facebook by its founder, Norman Muhammad. You can visit the coalition’s Facebook page here.
Attendees who wish to march are encouraged to arrive at Plainfield Library Park before 1pm, when the march to City Hall will begin. Muhammad emphasizes that social distancing will be practiced, and that all attendees must wear a mask or face covering. Attendees are also encouraged to bring their own signs. Those who are unable to walk with protesters can wait at the City Hall promenade for the arrival the marchers.
Plainfield View will provide more information as it becomes available.
