Activist, educator, and Newark mayoral candidate Ras Baraka missed last year’s Plainfield Frontiers International Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Breakfast due to the passing of his father, legendary poet and activist Amiri Baraka. The younger Baraka, now mayor of New Jersey’s largest city, spoke to the crowd gathered yesterday at Plainfield High School for this year’s annual King event.
