Cultural & Heritage grants still available

The Plainfield Cultural and Heritage Commission issues grants for free community events, and still has money available for projects in 2014. Non-profits, churches, and other community groups are encouraged to apply for these first come, first serve grants. All projects must be free and open to the community. They are usually concerts, art exhibitions, and plays, but also include translations, book printings, and other services of value to Plainfield.

The catch is that funded projects for 2014 can only happen after Cultural and Heritage Commission meetings, the next of which is on December 17th, but before the end of the year – a two week window. Fortunately, these two weeks encompass Christmas Day and most of Kwanzaa and Hanukkah. Organizations with projects in 2015 are free to apply next year. The commission meets and votes the third Wednesday of each month except for July and August.
